Introduction
After a while the most inspiring of trainers can get to feel stale; the most informative and best-structured programmes can suffer from repetition, or from participants feeling “been there, done that, learned all this before”.
This 3-day programme (2+1) is a refresher intended for experienced trainers seeking to broaden their repertoire and enliven their delivery with a wider variety of lively activities and creative approaches.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the programme, participants will be able to
Apply a new toolkit of creative activity design to refresh existing programmes
Liven up “graveyard slots” or stodgy groups
Refresh opening and closing sessions (all those boring introductions round the room!) with new approaches
Build enthusiasm, motivation and commitment in uncommitted learners
Design new, lively activities. Invent, test and use new games, case studies, role-plays and icebreakers
Use a variety of activities to illustrate learning points
Programme Content
The case for the creative approach in training and development. What makes learners fall asleep? (What makes trainers fall asleep?) The role of variety and activity for their own sake.
Learning Objectives – remain paramount. (But there are many different and exciting ways to achieve them).
Range of Learning Activities. Outdoor activities, questionnaires, practical exercises, role-plays, games, quizzes, case studies. Matching activities to Learning Preferences. Building in variety.
Flexibility. Achieving the same Learning points by a variety of routes, conventional mainstream or wild and whacky! Quick and punchy, or more in-depth.
Staying in control. Constraints of time, schedules and learning environment.
Maintaining group learning and feedback contracts. Practical safety. Emotional safety. Stretching learners without going too far. The responsible use of humour and fun.
