Introduction
Harassment and bullying has always been with us. However, it now appears to be on the increase simply because of the growing awareness of the detrimental affects it has on all of those involved and the cost to the organisation. The recent clarification of the concept of fairness has affected the way in which we respond to harassment and bullying and it is vital for managers to be fully aware of the law relating to this, to recognise the early stages of this unwanted behaviour and to, ideally, take preventative measures.
