Introduction to management
The Foundation Certificate in Management Principles is the first programme in the management qualification cycle which provides a professional development and accreditation route for managers from the beginning of their careers through to Diploma level.

The programme is designed to nationally recognised management standards and best practice providing new managers with a practical insight into management, and allowing them to achieve an accredited qualification in as little as six weeks.

Who should attend?
Newly appointed managers, existing managers with no previous management training and those aspiring to management positions.

Objectives

  • assess their current approach to the management of people and identify personal skills and knowledge gaps
  • introduce greater confidence and authority into the management process
  • explain the roles of a manager and how these promote and support the activities of a successful working group
  • make appropriate use of their time through proven management tools such as visual planning charts and a variety of time management techniques

  • explain the psychology of motivation and how it relates to the workplace
  • demonstrate a systematic approach to decision making and problem solving
  • prepare an action plan for implementation on the job
