Leading the team
Leadership is often difficult for supervisors and team leaders for whom identity as one of the team is comfortable and gives them a sense of security and team acceptability. The leader of the team is the vital link between management and staff, a position which implies authority and is therefore demanding. When leadership is misunderstood or avoided, it causes dilemmas and difficulties for the team leader/ supervisor and reflects on the team’s performance.
This course is designed to help participants understand what leadership means, the important part it plays in the team’s success, and outlines how to translate the principles of good leadership into practice.
Who should attend?
Who should attend : This course assumes that participants are conversant with the nature and scope of supervisory responsibilities (as outlined in the New Supervisor/Team Leader course) and focuses on the skills of leadership. It is suitable for staff who exercise authority over and are responsible for achieving results through the efforts of a small team. This course has also proved useful for existing supervisors and team leaders who wish to re-assess their performance, especially those intending to progress into management.
