Introduction
"The measure of an effective manager is how long he or she can lie dead in the office until anyone finds out!" Of all the skills a manager needs effective delegation is arguably the most critical and certainly one of the most rare. In a single day, this programme reinforces the need for and benefits of developing this key skill set, confronts the common barriers - real and psychological - and equips participants with a structured step-by-step approach.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the programme, participants will be able to:
Explain the key benefits of delegation, especially in relation to effective management of time, motivation and enhanced productivity
Uncover and overcome the barriers to delegation - practical, personal and psychological
Define the difference between task allocation and true delegation
Apply a structured step-by-step approach to delegate effectively
Define empowerment and how to enable it
Programme Content
The programme looks at the cultural conditions that are necessary to encourage empowerment and goes on to introduce delegation as on of the main outcomes of empowerment. Participants look at the steps and stages of delegation and how to use it as one of the most effective development tools available to managers. The programme recognises the many barriers to delegation and challenges participants to consider their own approach and beliefs that might sabotage the implementation of effective delegation in their teams
