Introduction
An issue frequently addressed by managers is, "How do I help my people increase their effectiveness?" The most important day-to-day tool of any performance management system is Constructive Feedback.
In skilled hands, constructive feedback is the mirror that can be held up to enable individuals to reflect on their behaviour, to identify what supports their job performance and what could be even more effective.
This programme takes an in depth approach to the structure, the verbal and non-verbal language and the beliefs that underpin Constructive Feedback. It is suitable for people at all levels who are placed where they can help others develop their effectiveness.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the programme, participants will be able to:
Define the nature of constructive feedback
Outline the benefits of constructive feedback
Deliver balanced feedback, both positive and critical
Receive constructive feedback, both positive and critical
Identify the values, beliefs and attitudes that support constructive critical feedback
Apply verbal and non-verbal behaviours that enable others to receive and benefit from feedback
Recognise the differing needs of others and flex their behaviour accordingly
Programme Content
Having emphasised the benefits of constructive feedback, participants will spend much of the programme practising the skills necessary to give the type of feedback that both motivates and opens the door to continuous, personal development. Feedback is also positioned in the bigger picture of performance coaching, 3600 feedback, counselling and mentoring. Not least of all, participants are given the opportunity to practise the management of destructive criticism and use it in the most constructive way for their learning and development
