Introduction
Increasingly organisations need to assemble project teams quickly to manage the constantly changing customer and market demands. One of the challenges that project managers often face is the dispirit make up of a project team. This programme is designed to give project managers the thinking, strategies and skills that will enable them to effectively manage a diverse team of people during a project life cycle. The programme therefore focuses on the key people issues that frequently arise.
This programme builds on our Project Management - Essential Skills programme. It would also be suitable for those project managers who are already skilled in the technical aspects of project management and wish to further develop their project management people skills.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this programme, participants will be able to:

  • Select team members based on project requirements and available human resource
  • Recognise the different demands of leading a project team compared to a line team
  • Establish and contract team roles and create a project team identity
  • Identify team life stages and manage the issues that each stage brings
  • Motivate the team throughout the life of the project
  • Help the team to grow through feedback and delegation
  • Apply core communication skills with both the team and the stakeholders
  • Effectively manage the project team meetings
  • Identify aspects of their own influencing style and recognise their impact

Programme Content
In contrast to Projects 1, this programme homes in on the management of effective communications within the project team and with the stakeholders.
Project teams have limited life cycles and this programme helps participants grasp the key behaviours that will support them in the selection, development, management and performance of their project teams.
