Introduction
“Cash is King”. We have all heard that phrase but what does this mean in the day-to-day reality of our working lives? There are numerous companies who continue to operate while turning in losses rather than profits, but the organisations that run out of cash come to a rapid halt.
In today’s world, the lifeblood of any organisation is cash. However the demands and expectations of stakeholders can often seem at odds to this where profit rules the roost or the focus is on costs. Although most employees can recognise the importance of sales, costs and profit, few fully understand how their actions can have positive and negative affects on Cash Flow, or understand why it is of utmost importance to the survival, security and prosperity of the organisation.
This programme is designed to enable people to understand not only the concepts and theories but how to apply them in a practical manner to their working environment. If Cash is King then let us understand what to do to help it rule successfully.
Learning Outcomes On successful completion of this programme participants will be able to:
Interpret the cash position and trends of a business through analysis of the main reporting documents
Describe Cash Flow and the ways of measuring it
Explain the elements of Working Capital and the major issues associated with it
Set action plans to positively influence Working Capital performance and Cash Flow in their own organisations
Programme Content
From analysing the component parts of working capital, the debtors, creditors, inventory and cash, the programme follows cash flow through a business and looks at the reasons behind blockages of flow. In the process, such financial elements as the Profit & Loss Account, the Balance Sheet, revenue, costs and profit are considered from the perspective of cash flow and working capital. Participants will look at the option of capital injections; the Cost of Capital and Return on Capital and also the major issues around Insolvency.
